Cucumbers and Committment is a one-woman show about love, loss, grief, and redemption. Iranian American artist, Hasti Bakian, guides the audience through song, dance, and immersive theater as she uses humor to talk about dating in your 20s, longing for love, losing a mother, and the grief she and so many others carry from the 1988 massacre of innocent prisoners in Iran.

After getting brought onto the project with a very short timeline, my goal was to bring to the various motifs and stories of the show to life. Due to the short timeline, I was limited with what I could accomplish, but wanted to create lighting that had distinct looks, as the show is a roller coaster of emotions, but could also come together to make something unique.
